June 14 marks the first day of the 2011 Euroradio Summer Festivals, an offer of 324 exceptional live concerts from the most prestigious summer festivals throughout Europe (including Bayreuth, BBC Proms, Lucerne, Salzburg, ChorĂ©gies d’Orange), offered by EBU Radio Members.
All concerts are technically coordinated from the Euroradio Control Centre in Geneva, under the supervision of Robert Cutliffe who is assisted each year by Euroradio engineers sent to Geneva by EBU Member organizations.
Today and until 11 July, we are happy to welcome Paul Pop from Romanian Radio and Espen Stensrud from Norwegian Radio. From 11 July to 15 August, we will have the pleasure of working with Ulrich Schnedl from Bavarian Radio and Ievgen Kostiukevych from Ukrainian Radio. Finally, from 15 August to 11 September, the team will be composed of Ales Ogric from Slovenian Radio and Andrzej Rafa of Polish Radio.
These training periods in Geneva help us maintain the high standard of reliability for which the Euroradio network is known with over 4,000 concerts offered per year, while at the same time providing an opportunity for engineers from Euroradio Members to familiarize themselves thoroughly with complex Euroradio procedures.
