ABU members win NYF radio awards

ABU members won a significant number of radio awards at the New York Festivals  (NYF) ceremony which was held on 20 June. 

The awards are given to the best radio programmes from around the world. Annually, the competition receives entries from radio stations, networks and independent producers from over 30 countries.

This year, ABC-Australia hauled eight awards (two gold awards, two silver and four bronze awards) and two finalist certificates. SBS-Australia received two finalist certificates.

Radio Free Asia's Korean service scored a gold award while its Mandarin service earned two finalist spots.
KBS-Korea won one silver award and a finalist certificate. 

RTHK-Hong Kong won a bronze prize for its documentary on Nelson Mandela, as well as a finalist certificate. From the Philippines, ABS-CBN earned a finalist certificate for its coverage of the Manila hostage drama. 

ABU's European members also won NYF awards. BBC garnered one gold, one silver and three bronze awards, apart from a finalist certificate. Radio Netherlands Worldwide gained two silver and one bronze awards while Radio France scored one silver prize. DW earned a finalist certificate.
