Work is under way to create Azerbaijan’s first-ever National Radio Monitoring Network. “Work on the project will begin after equipment has been installed in buildings constructed in Mehdiabad, Gunashli and Sahil settlements. A suitable building will also be built in Ganja,” the State Radio Frequencies Agency at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said in a press release.
The radio monitoring system is designed to register radio electronic devices, to prevent their unlicensed use, to ensure the correct and efficient use of frequencies, to exercise control over air space [sic] and protect it against outside interference.
“The radio monitoring network will cover the entire republic via new technology from five regional centres and sub-centres with the help of remote control systems. The new network is essential to guarantee the security of cyberspace,” the press release says.
