The consultant for legal issues of Angola’s Media Ministry, Lucas Kilundo, stated yesterday that the choice of a public contest to grant licences for radio and television broadcasting, as outlined in the new legislative package of the sector, has to do with transparency and objectivity criteria. Lucas Kilundo made this statement when speaking at the Journalist Training Centre (Cefojor), in response to various questions about the new Legislative Package of the Media sector.
To the jurist, the laws on activity of radio broadcasting and television are strict because the activity in this sector has to respect certain legal and technical parameters, and also of economic viability. Lucas Kilundo believes that the Media Ministry should continue to grant the licences for radio and television, as there is need for the interested entities to meet certain requirements, providing a set of documents among which are the technical design, station type, programme plans and an economic feasibility study.
