Greece’s first Macedonian-language radio station is to start broadcasting soon. According to representatives of the Macedonian community in Greece, a broadcasting permit has already been awarded and it is hoped that they will be able to transmit news in Macedonian soon. The two neighbouring countries, Greece and Macedonia, are locked in a long standing dispute over the use of the word ‘Macedonia’. Greece does not officially recognize the existence of a distinct Macedonian minority on its territory.
