Japan's NHK wins Asiavision award

Japan's national broadcaster, NHK, has won the Asiavision Monthly Award for June for its coverage of Lower House of Japan's Diet dismissing a no-confidence motion against the Cabinet of Prime Minister Naoto Kan.

NHK spared no effort in ensuring that Asiavision members received the material as soon as it became available, the citation said.

The chamber voted against the motion by 293 to 152 at a plenary session in the afternoon of 2 June.

The motion had been submitted by the opposition Liberal Democratic Party, New Komeito and Sunrise Party of Japan.
