A number of Bauer’s radio stations have re-signed a commercial deal with the Scottish Premier League, which will also see Northsound run live commentary on Aberdeen’s home and away matches this season.
Clyde 1 and Clyde 2 once again have goal flash rights for all Clydesdale Bank Premier League games on their Superscoreboard show, while Moray Firth Radio are continuing full live commentary on all Inverness Caledonian Thistle games.
Neil Doncaster, Chief Executive of the SPL, said: “This deal not only drives more investment into our clubs, but also broadens the coverage of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League for fans. We look forward to working with MFR, Northsound, Clyde 1 and Clyde 2 over the coming season.”
Danny Gallagher, Managing Director at MFR, added: “I am delighted to have live Clydesdale Bank Premier League commentary on MFR for the second season. I know many of our listeners have thoroughly enjoyed our coverage, and this helped the radio station win a sports award in 2011.”
Head of News and Sport at Clyde 1 and Clyde 2, Lorraine Herbison, said: “We are thrilled to have secured this deal with the SPL for the second year running. It proved very popular with our listeners in Glasgow and the west of Scotland last season. Our listening figures are at a five-year high with over 700,000 listeners tuning in from Glasgow and the West. Superscoreboard has contributed significantly to this success and we are really excited to get back on air.
Gary Muircroft, Programme Director at Northsound Radio, added: “I am delighted that we have secured live Clydesdale Bank Premier League commentary on Northsound Radio for the 2011/2012 season. There is great optimism in the North East for Craig Brown’s Aberdeen team after his recent signings and pre-season tour. It’s fantastic that Northsound listeners will have the chance to hear every kick of the ball.”
