André Mendes, BBG Chief Information Officer, Nominated for Prestigious IT Award

André Mendes, CIO and Director of Technical Services and Innovation at the Broadcasting Board of Governors, was nominated for the Top 10 Breakaway Leaders Award, a prestigious information technology industry award.

The award celebrates world-class IT leaders and their organizations. The finalists are voted by CIOs around the globe and the winners are determined by combined votes of a panel of distinguished judges and the CIO peer community.

The theme for this year's awards is “Recognizing CIO Ambassadors for a New Business Future – Engage. Influence. Transform.” The 25 finalists for the 2011 Top 10 Breakaway Leaders Award include many big players in the IT field, such as CIOs from Walt Disney, Northrop-Grumman, Procter & Gamble, and Lockheed Martin.  André Mendes is one of the only two finalists from the federal government; the other is Chad Fulgham, CIO of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

This year’s winners will be recognized at the 2011 Global CIO Executive Summit on September 12th at  Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

  1. As a former associate of Andre, I can only wish the best of luck to Chad Fulgham of the FBI.

Andre talks a good line but even Richard Lobo says that IBB's IT is a mess.

As for radio, Andre and his buddies seem intent on getting BBG out of broadcasting and moving to the Internet. That would be "narrowcasting" to the wealthy, since not many poor people have computers and high speed DSL or FiOS connections.

  2. Cowards often use anonymous as a cover for their lies and misrepresentations. Perfect example above. Call me, "former associate" and we can discuss anytime. But you likely won't, cowards seldom do.
