Dutch radio stations preparing damages claims

Radio stations that have been affected by the loss of FM signals from the station at Hoogersmilde, and greatly reduced coverage from the Lopik site which is still on low power, are preparing claims for damages. Q-Music has been especially hard hit by the problems, as well as stations in the Sky Radio group. Netherlands Public Broadcasting (NPO) is also preparing a claim.

The stations say their claims will be much higher if it transpires that the operators were aware of the risk beforehand. That will depend on the findings of the ongoing technical investigations at the two sites.

Advertisers have to be compensated because their ads are reaching fewer people. It’s unclear at this point who will be responsible for payment of damages.
