France opens DAB+ consultation

Four years after a request from French broadcasting authority CSA, the government has opened a public consultation on changing the country's digital terrestrial radio standard to DAB+, already used in other European countries with digital radio services. Les Echos reports that CSA wants to deliver authorisations for Paris, Marseille and Nice and to launch a call for applications for 20 other cities. The addition of DAB+ to the previously adopted T-DMB standard must be approved by the European Commission.
