BBC Radio 5 live and 5 live sports extra to broadcast live coverage of British MotoGP

This weekend BBC Radio 5 live and 5 live sports extra are broadcasting more than eight hours of live coverage from the British MotoGP at Silverstone.

This weekend BBC Radio 5 live and 5 live sports extra will broadcast more than eight hours of live coverage from the British MotoGP at Silverstone.

Practice sessions for MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 on Friday 15 June, along with Sunday’s warm-up session and commentary of the Moto2 race are on 5 live sports extra, while the weekend’s climax - the MotoGP itself - is on 5 live from 1.00pm on Sunday 17 June.

Former rally driver and experienced motorsport broadcaster Andrew Coley presents the coverage throughout the weekend and is joined in the commentary box by Jeremy McWilliams, the last British rider to take a podium place in the British MotoGP.

Andrew says: “I love motorsport and get the same nervous excitement sitting in the commentary box as I do when I’m competing myself.

“I’m very much looking forward to covering the pinnacle of motorcycle racing with MotoGP for 5 live this weekend. The racing is exciting whatever the weather and we’ve a genuine British interest too.”

Andrew and Jeremy are supported by 5 live’s 2010 MotoGP reporter Mike Lawrence and Editorial Director at World Sports Communications, Guy Swindells.

World Sports Communications Managing Director Glynn Cropper says: “This is a terrific opportunity for us and for British motor sport. We are proud to be working with the BBC to bring the Formula One of the motor bike world to a new radio audience.”
