DW and Wartburg College agree partnership

Director General Erik Bettermann and Darrel D. Colson, President of Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, USA, have reached an agreement in Bonn for closer cooperation between the two institutions.

Bettermann and Colson signed a memorandum of understanding during the Global Media Forum in Bonn. The agreement provides for increased cultural and academic cooperation between the DW Akademie and Wartburg College, especially in the fields of teaching and research. That means that each year a Wartburg College graduate will be able to take part in the master's program titled International Media Studies at the DW Akademie.

Further plans include instituting a teacher exchange and a spring course for American students at the DW Akademie. Professor Colson called this an excellent opportunity for his college to become more international and to benefit from ties to one of the largest broadcasters in the world.

Director General Bettermann noted that the agreement helps DW strengthen its position in academic circles. DW already works with institutions such as the German University Cairo, the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and Bonn University. In light of its history, Wartburg College aims to maintain close ties to Germany. In May this year, the Wartburg Castle Singers Choir performed at DW with an impressive and lively jazz program.
