Russian European Broadcasting Union members – Radio Vesti FM and Radio Mayak (RUMK/RDO) won the most prestigious National Radiomania Award 2012. Nikolay Osipov (Vesti FM) was acclaimed Best Reporter for his coverage of political protests in the Bolotnaya Square in Moscow. Radio Mayaks’s programme “The Alien” anchored by Tim Kirby became the Best Political Programme of the year.
Radiomania Award was founded in 2002 by the Russian Ministry of Communications and Mass Media and the Russian non-government Organization of Mass Media workers MediaUnion. It is aimed at improving the prestige of radio, showing best creative achievements and helping professionals to share their experience. This year there were 226 entries from 44 cities, in total more than 100 radio stations took part, competing in 22 categories.
