Liberia: Inquirer Boss Wants Radio Veritas Re-Opened

In observance of the INQUIRER's 22nd Anniversary, the Managing Editor of the paper, Mr. Philip N. Wesseh has appealed to the Catholic Archdiocese of Monrovia through the office of the Archbishop His Grace Most Rev. Lewis Jerome Zeigler to reconsider the reopening the only Catholic Broadcast Service in the country "Radio Veritas".

Mr. Wesseh, who spoke to hundreds of parishioners at the St. Kizito Catholic Church on Sunday shortly after a thanksgiving mass said it would be prudent that they do everything possible to ensure the existence of the radio station on the air.

"Whatever we can do as an institution to keep the voice of the voiceless open should be done. We are appealing to the church to study its decision so that once more Radio Veritas can come back on the air wave. Please, we are appealing to you," Mr. Wesseh told the worshippers.

With deep appreciation from his heart, Mr. Wesseh could not end his comment without recognizing and being thankful to the retired venerable Priest, Msgr. Robert G. Tikpor of the St. Kizito Catholic Church.

The INQUIRER Boss acknowledged the hard work of Msgr. Tikpor during those years of services rendered the church and his country. Mr. Wesseh recalled that Msgr. Tikpor has stood for justice and freedom and has demonstrated the courage of free speech, human rights and a democratic free society while serving in the priesthood.

When Msgr. Tikpor speaks to the media, his comment must be either front page lead or back page lead," Mr. Wesseh asserted.

Mr. Wesseh described Msgr. Tikpor as one of the "greatest Catholic Priests" who has given most of his life time to the spread of the gospel in Liberia. He assured the Catholic prelate that he will forever be remembered in the history of Liberia because of his significant role he has played.
