Bahrain Marks World Radio Day

Manama-Feb12(BNA)Bahrain will tomorrow (Friday13) join the other countries in celebrating the World Radio Day.

Minister of State for Information Affairs Samira Ibrahim bin Rajab seized the occasion to affirm Bahrain's commitment to the international covenants on developing the mass media.

She reiterated keenness on promoting constructive and responsible freedom of expression, developing democracy and protecting human rights and landmark achievements under the reform project initiated by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.

She urged media commitment, accuracy, balance and objectivity to protect social unity and anchor the values of cooperation and mutual respect.

She also stressed the necessity to renounce calls inciting sectarian, racial or religious hatred, violence and terror.

The minister seized this occasion to extend congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander for promoting media freedom, plurality and independence.
