The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) and Digicel Fiji today signed two agreements on co-siting and text platforms.
Under the co-site agreement FBC will be able to use Digicel towers for microwave linking - which will give FBC connectivity between some transmission sites.
The agreement will further boost FBC's coverage areas for radio and the soon to be launched free-to-air TV service.
A second agreement on text-platform will see Digicel customers now able to communicate via text for FBC competitions and other services.
FBC CEO Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says Digicel was the only telecommunications company that stepped forward to provide a co-siting opportunity to FBC, and the company was grateful for this.
He adds it was only natural that the company follow the Commerce Commission's initiative on fairness - by providing a text platform on all FBC's six stations.
