Asiavision is continuing its programme of in-house training for its members with two weeks of training in Kabul.
Conducted by Matt Walsh of Media Advisers Asia, the Kabul mission includes a week of training each for AVN's two members in Afghanistan, Saba TV and RTA. The training began on Sunday and will continue until 28 July.
It is being held under the Asiavision Advisory Service (AVAS), which provides funded training for members of the ABU's daily news exchange.
Other recent AVAS courses have included five days of news training in Kuala Lumpur for staff of Radio Television Malaysia and three weeks of news training in Thimphu for staff of Bhutan's national broadcaster, BBS.
Launched in 1984, Asiavision brings together 22 broadcasters in 19 Asian countries. They exchange more than 9,000 news items a year by satellite and file transfer.
In recent years, in-house training has become an increasingly important part of the services Asiavision offers its members.
