KBS-Korea's Music Bank in draws 45,000 in Tokyo

A special edition of KBS' pop music show Music Bank was filmed at Tokyo Dome in Japan on July 13. The "K-Pop Festival" edition lined up 15 K-Pop acts such as TVXQ, Girl Generation, 2PM, Kara, 4 Minute, UKiss, Beast and Secret, which thrilled about 45,000 fans at the Dome.  

It was the first time the Tokyo Dome had showcased 15 Korean acts, since  opening in 1988. President and CEO of KBS Dr Kim In-Kyu who attended the show, said he was grateful for enthusiasm of Japanese fans for Korean pop stars. Part of the proceeds of the show will be donated to Japan to aid recovery from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

During meetings with the heads of Japanese broadcasters NHK, TBS, TV Asahi, Dr Kim suggested cooperation to further promote K-Pop.

Kim Chung, chief producer of the show, who oversaw everything from lighting to performance, said that it would be great opportunity for entertainers seeking wider audiences abroad.

Music Bank - K-Pop Special will be shown on KBS TV2 today. KBS World will also broadcast the programme to 72 countries.
