NHK Enterprises launches Facebook page

NHK Enterprises, Inc. (NEP), one of the business arms and production houses of Japan's public broadcaster NHK, has launched a Facebook page.

Called "Kawaii.i" ("kawaii" means ‘cute' in Japanese), the page delivers the latest trends in Japanese pop culture, including fashion, anime and manga, to young people across the globe.

The page is closely linked to a TV programme produced by NEP called "Tokyo Kawaii TV" which is being broadcast on NHK.

Utilising TV production know-how, NEP produces a fashion-oriented mini-programme, "Mana's Style", on a daily basis for the sole purpose of streaming it on "Kawaii.i".

On "Mana's Style", Mana, a fashion model, goes around the shops in the Tokyo metropolitan areas such as Shibuya, Harajyuku and Akihabara to introduce the latest in Japanese pop culture.

In addition, "Kawaii.i" will post pictures and information about the hottest shops in Tokyo and the latest Japanese anime and manga.

A forum will also be set up on the page, where visitors can exchange information and opinions about Japanese pop culture. NEP's ultimate goal is to organise events and competitions on and off the Facebook platform that will connect "Kawaii.i" fans across the globe.
