Dr. KIM In-Kyu, President of the ABU held a meeting with Mrs. Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO, and Mr. Ki-Won Jang, Ambassador of the permanent delegation of the Republic of Korea to UNESCO, at the headquarter of UNESCO, Paris, on 9 February.
Mrs. Bokova conveyed welcoming and thanking remarks, noting that the ABU has been a longtime partner with UNESCO. Dr. KIM proposed that ABU and UNESCO continue strengthening cooperation in the fields of Gender Mainstreaming and Early Warning Broadcasting in particular.
They also agreed to further various specific projects through working level discussions which will be led by Dr. Javad Mottaghi (SG of ABU) and Mr. Janis Karklins (Assistant DG of UNESCO).
Also of note, Mrs. Bokova showed much interest in K-pop, while Dr. KIM successfully spearheaded a large scale K-pop concert in Bercy stadium, Paris. Dubbed MUSIC BANK in Paris, the concert will also be aired as an episode of MUSIC BANK , one of the most famous K-pop programs.
