India: I&B Ministry seeks cabinet nod on FM radio expansion again

The I&B ministry has announced that it will seek the cabinet's approval regarding the policy guidelines on Phase III expansion of FM radio broadcasting services again even though the cabinet had earlier given its nod.

The information was given by minister of state in I&B Ministry C M Jatua to the Lok Sabha who added that the decision was taken following the emergence of certain new aspects.

Jatua said that while taking action for implementation of the Phase III policy, a few issues like charging of migration fee from existing permission holders, specific departures in the Request For Proposals (RFP), etc., which are not covered under the Phase III policy have arisen.

He also added that the Draft Cabinet note in this regard has already been circulated to all the concerned ministries/departments.
