Havana.
- On the occasion of the World Radio Day, February 13, representatives
of several generations of professionals will debate on the progress and
challenges of this medium in Cuba.
The
exchange will take place at Casa Carmen Montilla, in this capital,
which hosts the exhibition Sintonia de un Patrimonio (Tuning Heritage),
by the plastic artist Maikel Herrera.
The
purpose of the celebration is to highlight the power of the radio as a
platform to disseminate information, educate, encourage diversification
of contents, as well as to protect local cultures and languages.
World
Radio Day is on February 13. It was proclaimed on November 3, 2011 by
UNESCO's 36th General Conference and each year Cuba organizes a number
of activities sponsored by the Regional Office of Culture for Latin
America and Caribbean with headquarters in Havana.
