NEW DELHI: All India Radio has planned several programmes for
tomorrow to mark World Radio Day, alternating between musical programmes
by children to interviews with radio veterans and other listeners.
A musical programme by children aged between eight and fourteen
years will be broadcast tomorrow night on AIR’s main channel, the
Indraprastha Channel.
There will also be a discussion on the National Radio Scenario Today on the Indraprastha Channel tomorrow at 10.30 am.
AIR’s FM Gold Channel (106.4) will broadcast Radio Rhythm Special
at noon tomorrow where celebrities who have been associated with All
India Radio or began their careers there before making a name for
themselves elsewhere will be interviewed.
Later in the afternoon at 3 pm, FM Gold will broadcast ‘Hello FM’
live where listeners can call in and talk about what radio means to
them.
FM Rainbow (102.6) will call certain eminent personalities in a
programme at 8 am and talk to them with them about the evolution and
different aspects of radio.
FM Rainbow will interview Jitendra Ram Prasad, a veteran in radio broadcasting, at 4.30 tomorrow evening.
World Radio Day is marked as a day to celebrate radio as a
medium; to improve international cooperation between broadcasters; and
to encourage major networks and community radio alike to promote access
to information and freedom of expression over the airwaves.
The objectives of the day is to raise greater awareness among the
public and the media of the importance of radio; to encourage decision
makers to establish and provide access to information through radio; as
well as to enhance networking and international cooperation among
broadcasters.
