The man known on air in Perth as Jim Beam, has passed away, aged 69.
Errol was heard on 6KY, 6IX and 6PM during his time on air in the
1960s and 70s. He was part of the 6IX Easy Rolling format at the height
of the station's popularity.
He also worked at 5KA Adelaide during
the late 1960s, using his real name on air then. Since leaving
commercial radio he worked in marketing in Perth and also had a stint
working for Perth's aboriginal community station 6AR during the early
2000s.
Known
for his stock of red hair and his deep radio voice, Errol was sought
after for voiceovers, as well as standard radio shifts. Using his voice
to advantage, he was also known to do a good version of the Lee Marvin
song Wandering Star.
