Rajshahi, Bangladesh: World Radio Day celebrated with rally and discussion

RAJSHAHI, Feb 13 (BSS)- The first World Radio Day was celebrated in Rajshahi city today in a befitting manner with a vow to make Radio as vital means of reaching emergency information towards the remotest people.

With joint initiative of Radio Padma and CCD Bangladesh, a colourful rally was taken out from Alupatty crossing and that paraded some of the thoroughfares before being ended on Rajshahi College premises marking the day. A large number of media and cultural activists joined the rally.

Afterwards, a discussion was organized at Rajshahi College auditorium highlighting the importance of the Radio.

Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Subal Bose Moni, Chairman of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of Rajshahi University Mosihur Rahman, Deputy Director of Rajshahi Betar Farid Uddin, Assistant Director Rashed Khan, Chief Coordinator of Radio Padma Golam Mourtoza and cultural activist Dr Hassan Raja spoke at the discussion.

The speakers said the world Radio Day is being observed today in Bangladesh as elsewhere in the world seeking to raise awareness about the importance of radio, facilitate access to information through radio and enhance networking among broadcasters.
