Today’s quiz question was read on 1 May. That week, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi met in Rome, to discuss a 1985 European Union accord about immigration, which they wanted to reform. I asked you to send in the name of this landmark accord, and what it was that Sarkozy and Berlusconi wanted to change.
And the answer is: the Schengen accord – an agreement which allows visa-free travel among 25 European countries. France and Italy jointly called for the accord to be reformed, to allow member states to reimpose internal border controls more easily.
The winners this week are: François Jacob, from New Brunswick, Canada; Hans Verner Lollike, from Hedehusene, Denmark; Mohammad Shamim, from Kerala State, India; from Goa, India, Zenon Teles, and from Nairobi, Kenya, Kpatcha Kamde.
Congratulations, winners!
