BBC Radio 1 presents exclusive Red Hot Chili Peppers gig

Fearne Cotton announced today on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, details of an exclusive Radio 1 concert by stadium rock group Red Hot Chili Peppers, taking place at Koko in Camden, London, on Friday 2 September 2011. 

This intimate performance hosted by Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe will be the band's first show in the UK since 2007, ahead of their upcoming tour in November. The band is set to play material from their forthcoming new album along with some of their biggest hits. Doors to the event will open at 6.30pm with the show finishing at 9.30pm. 

Fearne also revealed tickets to the Radio 1 gig are free with 502 pairs up for grabs. To be in with a chance of attending, fans need to register at bbc.co.uk/radio1 from Monday 15 August at 9.15am and registration will remain open until 7pm on Sunday 21 August 2011. 

Zane Lowe who will be warming up the crowds on the night with a DJ set and introducing the band on stage says: "The Chili Peppers have played such a big musical role in the lives of millions of people, myself included. I can't wait to see how they launch this new chapter in their amazing journey." 

An interview and highlights from the Red Hot Chili Pepper's Koko gig will be broadcast on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show on Monday 12 September 2011 from 7pm.
