FM transmissions from Lopik to slowly increase power

FM reception of public and some commercial stations will gradually improve in the central Netherlands within the next 28 days as the power of the transmissions from the tower in IJsselstein (Lopik) will be increased in stages to 50 percent of its original level. This was announced today by mast owner Novec.

The first step is to increase the transmission power from 3 to 6 kW. This will happen as soon as the station is equipped with additional earthing and a fire-prevention system that continuously measures the temperature. Depending on the initial results and after an independent audit, the power will be scaled up step-by-step to 16 kW, half the original transmitting power.

Only when the causes of the fires on 15 July in the towers of IJsselstein and Smilde are known, can the power be raised back to the old level. The research into this could take months.
