The EBU's Legal and Public Affairs Assembly will be taking place this week in Istanbul on 19-20 April 2012, at the kind invitation of TRT and under the chairmanship of Mr Peter Weber (ZDF). Attending the Assembly will be 102 delegates from 31 countries, including China and Australia who will be attending an EBU Assembly for the first time. The Legal And Policy Committee and the Statutes Group will also be meeting during the week in Istanbul.
At the Assembly itself, a keynote presentation will be given by Mr Hans Laroes (former Editor-in-Chief at NOS). In addition, delegates will discuss a wide range of legal, policy and lobbying issues. These will include media freedom and pluralism, net neutrality, new media platforms, the protection of personal data and personality rights, and various copyright issues, such as orphan works, ACTA, the WIPO treaty and the Premier League court case.
