North Korea to carry Olympic coverage for London 2012 through ABU

Dr. Kim In-Kyu, President of the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union is visiting Pyongyang in North Korea from July 24th to 25th to officially license KRT, the national broadcaster of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), the broadcast rights for this year’s Summer Olympic Games in London and also to find ways to further the cooperation between ABU and KRT.

The ABU delegation comprising of President Kim In-Kyu, Secretary General Javad Mottaghi, and Director of Sports John Barton, will have an official meeting with the broadcasting decision-makers and high-ranking officials associated with the DPRK during the visit. The delegation will also hold meetings with KRT to seek cooperation in technical, contents and training programs.

The Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union, with 218 members in 60countries, will be providing the official broadcast rights for the Summer Olympic Games in London to more than 40 broadcasters in their respective countries in the Asia Pacific region through the ABU Sports cooperation and partnership.
