UK: Pocklington could get new radio station

Fancy your chances as the next Chris Evans or Sara Cox? then a new community radio station in Pocklington could be just what you’re looking for.

West Wolds Radio, a newly formed local organisation, is aiming to apply for a broadcasting licence early next year with the hope of starting a dedicated community service to Pocklington and the surrounding villages.

Organiser, Peter Davies says “This may be the final opportunity to launch our very own community service. Preparation has to start early.”

“We need to gauge ‘people support’, so please contact us. You may be an individual with a media interest, a community organisation, a sports club, a local music enthusiast, a drama group or someone with spare time during the day. “There’s so much behind-the-scenes daily work needed to produce good radio and we’re looking for all kinds of skills to get the station running.”

Organisers hope that if a licence is granted, the station could be up and running by the end of next year.

If you are interested in the project email info@westwoldsradio.co.uk or write to 36 Mile End Park, Pocklington YO42 2TH saying how you’d like to be involved.
