The European Broadcasting Union has appointed its first Chief Digital
Officer (CDO) to oversee the full spectrum of EBU digital strategies
and drive positive change across the organization.
Torben Eriksen, a former deputy director at Danish broadcaster DR who
has held various management jobs during three years at the EBU, takes up
his post with immediate effect.
Mr Eriksen’s first priority as CDO will be to give the EBU’s online
face greater uniformity, to ensure Members and customers receive a
consistent service and the same standard of detail and quality across
the organisation.
Shortly after his appointment was announced, Mr Eriksen said:
"Technological innovation is at the core of our services, leading us to
innovate new ways to interact with our Members and customers. These
changes are not IT changes; they are business changes. It requires
business attention and business oversight to make this happen in a
consistent way across all our digital channels. I'm looking forward to
driving this change with all my dedicated colleagues at the EBU.”
The CDO will also explore how to maximize customer and Member
engagement and ensure an integrated approach by implementing
progressive, pragmatic solutions based on a shared vision.
To achieve this, he will analyse the EBU’s digital strategies and
identify tools that will enable the organization to offer a higher level
of service across the board.
