NEW DELHI: More than two hundred questions were answered by
officials of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry today during the
first-ever Live Twitter Conference on the theme “Community Radio: Road
Travelled & Way Forward”.
The live conference was chaired by I&B Secretary Uday Kumar
Varma, who responded to the questions/queries. Senior officials of the
Ministry were also present on the occasion.
The Live Conference scheduled for half an hour went on for over
an hour and different aspects of the Community Radio programme were
covered. Varma himself responded to nearly 45 such questions. The
questions related to spectrum fee waiver, licensing, sustainability of
the Community Radio Model and career prospects.
Speaking on the occasion, Varma said the Ministry would continue
to do such exercises on other issues in the near future. The Conference
had provided the Ministry the medium to understand the perception of the
people in the social media space. As the intervention was innovative,
it also provided a platform to make the citizens aware of the key
policies and programmes of the Government.
The initiative also ensured that the awareness regarding the key
policy interventions such as Community Radio reached the people in a
form and language understood by them.
