Sentech loses chief operating officer

Sentech’s acting chief operating officer, Dingane Dube, has left South Africa’s state-owned broadcasting signal distributor to pursue “personal interests”. Mr Dube, a long-serving executive at the company, left its employ on 21 July, says spokesman Nthabeleng Mokitimi. She strongly denies market talk that Mr Dube had been suspended before he tendered his resignation.

Contacted by TechCentral, all Mr Dube will say is: “I don’t want to talk to you about anything.” Mr Dube, an admitted attorney, was previously executive for regulatory and government affairs at Sentech. He joined Sentech in April 2001.

Ms Mokitimi says Sentech has not yet appointed an acting chief operating officer to replace Mr Dube. Some of his responsibilities have been taken on by CEO Setumo Mohapi, with “other senior managers” assuming other duties that fell within Mr Dube’s portfolio.
