UTV Media’s Signal Radio has done a deal to broadcast full match commentary on all Stoke City’s matches at home and away this season.
The games will air on Signal 1, and started with yesterday afternoon’s home fixture against Chelsea.
Signal will be ‘Official Commercial Commentary Partner’ of the club and will also work closely with the Potters on other initiatives within the local community. It’s understood BBC Radio Stoke will continue to do commentary on the matches as well.
The club’s Head of Commercial Andrew Billingham said: “We are delighted to have reached an agreement over commentary rights which compliments our long term relationship with BBC Radio Stoke. An important aspect of the club’s progress over the past few years has been the increase in the number of families and young people who now follow the club. Twenty five per cent of Season Tickets holders are under the age of 21 and another twenty per cent are female and this new partnership really does support our strategic growth objectives for the future.”
Signal Radio’s Station Director Iain Fowler added: “We’re really pleased to secure this full commentary partnership. We believe this investment into sport content on Signal Radio is an important part of our audience growth strategy. The relationship with the Football Club is much more than just a commentary rights agreement, it’s a partnership. We also plan to work with the Club throughout this season on a number of key initiatives.”
