UTV’s national station talkSPORT has been awarded the rights to broadcast full commentary on all 31 matches at this summer’s Euro 2012 football tournament.
BBC Radio 5 live will also air full match coverage of every game of the competition, which kicks off in Warsaw on 8th June and ends with the final on 1st July in Kiev.
Moz Dee, talkSPORT Programme Director, said: “Major international sport tournaments are a huge draw for our listeners, as we’ve found with the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and the Rugby World Cup this year. With a team that includes Stan Collymore, Andy Gray and Richard Keys I believe we have some of the best sports broadcasters in the business and we’re the perfect place for listeners to follow all of the action next summer. I’m delighted to be bringing every game of EURO 2012 live to fans.”
Following the announcement of the appointment of the BBC and ITV as the official television broadcasters of UEFA EURO 2012 in the United Kingdom, BBC Radio 5 live announced it would have live match commentary of all 31 games. It’s understood all commentaries will be on the main 5 live station – during the 2010 World Cup some moved to 5 Live Sports Extra to allow Wimbledon coverage to take centre stage on 5 live.
